Take the mystery out of learning to read Hebrew.  Be able to follow a service in Hebrew and actually know what is being read.  This course will assume that you have little or NO Hebrew background at all.
This course will examine the Jewish calendar from beginning to end.  We will discuss each Holy Day on the calendar and examine both it's history and the manner in which we celebrate it.  This is an excellent refresher course as well as an excellent course for those who are New to Jewish practice.
This too is an excellent refresher course as well as an excellent course for those who are new to Jewish life and practice, or possibly contemplating conversion.
We also hope to engage guest Rabbis and other knowledgeable Jewish leaders to participate in these classes to help broaden the scope of information and points of view.  We expect these classes to be very spirited.

Once the province of Rabbinical scholars, the Kabbalah, now attracts spiritually minded people from all traditions and backgrounds.  What is it about this ancient mystical practice that attracts the likes of Madonna and David Beckham?  We will explore the history of Kabbalah and it's major texts, and develop a balanced perspective of Kabbalah as an umbrella for a complex assemblage of mystical Jewish teachings and codification techniques.  We'll learn to understand the mystical tree of life, and examine Kabbalah controversies and conflicts, and more.

Learn to situate the Bible in it's ancient historical context.  This class draws on the latest archaeological and linguistic research to fill in the historic realities behind the great stories of the Bible.   You will explore the diverse origins of such stories as the Creation and the Flood in the cultures of the ancient Near East. The striking parallels in the foundational stories told in the Egyptian, Persian, Greek and Hebrew cultures of the time.  Recent  archeological and linguistic research shows that these civilizations shared many common legends and even characters.  Furthermore each archeological season seems to unearth new discoveries that allow us to fill in gaps in our knowledge.
